Though volunteers contribute thousands of hours to participate on stage, backstage, in the concessions stand, the box office, and even helping to park cars, there are a few key staff members who keep The Lofte up and running. Here’s your chance to meet them!

 

Kevin Colbert, Artistic Director
Kevin Colbert has been involved with The Lofte Community Theatre since its inception in 1977. Born and raised on a farm approximately 1/2 mile from the Lofte, Kevin has remained close to the area since graduating from Weeping Water High School in 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from UN-L in 1980 and taught English, Speech & Drama before becoming the full-time Artistic Director for The Lofte in 1985. In addition to The Lofte, Kevin has been the Producer/Director for the Winter theater season at Mahoney State Park since 1993. He resides with his wife Betty and daughter Samantha in Weeping Water.

 

Betty Colbert, Musical Director
Betty Colbert, first began the musical directing at the Lofte with "Something's Afoot" in 1980. Since 1982 she has served as musical director for 28 shows. She has a Bachelor in Music Education from UN-L and a Master's in vocal performance from UN-L. She is currently teaching vocal music at Elmwood-Murdock School.

 

Jean Colbert, Box Office Manager
Jean has been working in the ticket office since the Lofte's inception in 1977. She is a retired business physical education teacher and volleyball, basketball and track coach. She began the girls track program in Weeping Water and continues her work of 20 years as a track official for the University of Nebraska. and continued until I retired in 1996. She and her husband of more than 50 years, Reginald, ran a dairy farm for many years and raised four children. Jean's hobbies are collecting key chains, music, doing things with her hands and volunteer service.

 

 

Nikki Beisterfeld, Concessions Manager
Nikki Biesterfeld has been the concessions manager at The Lofte since 2004. She is responsible for many creative additions to the Lofte menu. She resides in Louisville with her husband Jamion and two children. She is employed with Louisville Family Dental. Nikki says the help from friends,family, and excellent volunteers has made her job at the Lofte fun and enjoyable.

Larry Bauers, Head Carpenter/ Handiman

Anne Marie Pope, Lofte Advertising & PR
Anne has been an active member of the Lofte since she first stepped on the stage when she was 18 years old.  She is currently serving her 12th year on the Board of Directors and among her many duties, she is in charge of the Lofte's Advertising, Publicity, Facility Rentals, and heads up the off-season programming committee.  Anne lives on an acreage near Eagle with her husband, Scott (also a familiar Lofte face) and their two children, August and Lily.
