Lofte Season 2006

THE LINCOLN CONTINENTALS

May 28 Showtimes are 4:00PM and 7:00PM

Our “opening act” in the new barn will be two one-hour performances presented by the Lincoln Continentals , Lincoln's premiere men's a cappella chorus! Under the direction of Dale Comer, the theme for the concert is “Songs From The Movies”. Every year, the Continentals take their barbershop harmony to a variety of venues. They also compete at a district level with more than 13 other choruses, and have placed first or second, as the best chorus in the State of Nebraska for the past 20 years. Admission is $10.00 and will be open seating. (Not included in season ticket.) Call 267-5400 for tickets, please specify the 4:00PM or 7:00PM concert.

 

On Golden Pond

This is the humorous and touching love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-fourth year. He is a retired professor, nearing eighty, but still as tart-tongued, and eager for life as ever. Ethel, ten years younger, delights in all the small things that have enriched their long life together. They are visited by their daughter and her fiancé, who then go off to Europe, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. Inspired by the boy's youth and new friendship, Norman and Ethel forge ahead with a new spirit.

Red Riding Hood

The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley, Nebraska is proud to host a community theatre production specifically for our children. The Missoula Children’s Theatre from Missoula, Montana, will audition, cast and direct a production of “Red Riding Hood” for children entering grades 1-7. A cast of 50-60 children will have a week of practices and then give two performances to the public (3pm and 7pm) on Saturday, July 1.

Auditions will be held at the new Lofte theatre facility on Monday, June 26th from 10am-12pm. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive on time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal will begin approximately 15-30 minutes after the audition. Other rehearsals will be conducted every day (Tuesday, June 27 through Friday, June 30) from 10am to 2:30pm at the Lofte. The two performances will be given at 3pm and 7pm on Saturday July 1. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under twelve.


South Pacific

Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. Don't miss one of the greatest musicals of all time! This show has it all: story, song, hilarity and heartbreak. Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and There Is Nothin Like a Dame are just a few of the wonderful songs from this classic score. “South Pacific” was a dapted from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel "Tales Of The South Pacific" by James Michener.

Five Nickels

Here is a funny, thought-provoking, entertaining evening of theater and the title story is the first act of the play. Five Nickels introduces us to Ed Maloney, 60, single and shy. He's a Catholic usher and, on this particular Sunday, he is confronted by Catherine Barber, a 50-year old widow who, after weeks of holding back, has finally determined to confront this lifelong bachelor with her true feelings. Act Two consists of four different stories that range from touching to hilarious. ( We suggest PG 13)
